Get ready for another electrifying showdown of innovation and engineering as The American School In Japan proudly hosts the annual 2027 ASIJ VEX V5 Robotics Competition™ Tournament! This VEX V5 High School event will be an action-packed two-day competition that brings together the brightest student robotics teams from across the region and beyond, each presenting robots they have designed, built, and programmed to compete in both driver-controlled matches and autonomous skills challenges.
This year, teams will face off in the exciting new VEX V5 Robotics Competition™ game, Override™—a dynamic challenge that rewards strategic thinking, precise execution, adaptability, and teamwork. With every match presenting new opportunities and obstacles, competitors will need to think quickly, communicate effectively, and perform under pressure to gain the upper hand.
From roaring crowds to high-stakes matchups, the atmosphere will be electric as participants push the limits of technology, creativity, and collaboration in pursuit of tournament glory. Don’t miss this celebration of teamwork, ingenuity, and relentless passion for robotics.
Teams from Japan and overseas are welcome—we can’t wait to see what you bring to the field!

Travel Info
Date: 8-Jan-2027 - 9-Jan-2027 The American School in Japan 1-1-1 Nomizu Chofu, Tokyo, 182-0031 Japan Travel Info ASIJ works closely with a local travel agent who is fluent in English that can help schools book hotels and airport transportation if necessary. We recommend that teams fly into Haneda International Airport if possible. Teams should plan to commute via train or buses to the venue. Taxis are available, however, they can be expensive. Travel Agent: eiji.fujimoto@travelctm.com Hotels: Hotel within walking distance to the venue: Business Inn Grand All Hotel within 1 train line of the venue: Hotel METS Areas further from campus, but still on the main train line (JR Chuo-line) are: Kichijoji and Shinjuku Parking: There is limited parking on campus for visiting teams. There is a public parking lot nearby if teams would like to drive. Teams arriving via charter bus or school bus may be able to park on campus IF given prior notice to the event organizer. Buses and cars may NOT enter campus before 9:00 AM on Friday or 7:30 AM on Saturday.
Judging Format
Judging Format Judging Format: • Digital Engineering Notebook Submissions: Engineering notebooks should be submitted digitally for evaluation via the link found within the "My Account" panel of the team contact. The submission deadline is Wednesday 6 January @ 8am (JST). • In Person Team Interviews: Team interviews will be conducted in-person at the event. • For the most current award descriptions and judging criteria, please visit library.globalrobotics.org.
