Thank you for choosing to compete in our 12th Annual VEX V5 Robotics Competition, hosted by Jenison Robotics! We are ready for an exciting day of competitive robotics.
Location: This tournament is being held in the main gym at Jenison High School, 2140 Bauer Rd, Jenison, MI 49428
Teams will participate in qualification matches, skills events, judging in the pits, and elimination matches if qualified.
Pit tables, seating, and electrical power will be provided for each attending team, along with ample spectator seating. Teams are welcome to bring their own food. Only teams that are checked in by 8:20 am will be allowed to compete. If you are running late, please call Tim Hoyt at 616-802-8180 to make arrangements.
Lunch and Concessions
- Concessions will be available throughout the day. There will be coffee, hot chocolate, and donuts in the morning. There will be water, soda, candy, and snacks throughout the day.
- A lunch ticket will be available for purchase, which includes two pieces of pizza, a snack, and a drink.
Engineering Notebooks/Interviews
Physical Engineering Notebooks/In Person Team Interviews: Team interviews will be conducted in person at the event. Engineering notebooks will be collected at sign-in and will not be accepted after team check-in concludes at 8:20 am.
Registration Information
All participating teams must be registered with VEX Robotics and have an official team number before registering for this event. Tournament fees must be paid before teams are allowed to compete. Registration and payments should be made through events.vex.com
Elimination Matches
The number of elimination alliances is 16.
Competition Preparation
All teams should come prepared for competition. Here are a few steps that every team should take to ensure that they are ready.
Review all game information: Current Game Webpage.
Review the rules and run through the inspection checklist about a week before the competition to allow ample time for adjustments. Robots must use VEX V5 parts. Please self-inspect before arriving at the tournament using the V5 Robot Inspection Checklist.
Check the official VEX forums for rule updates and changes.
Carefully read all of the information contained in the tournament posting on events.vex.com
Pack for the event the day before departure. Here are a few items that you don't want to forget.
Goggles/Safety Glasses
Spare parts & tools
Batteries and chargers
Power strip
Laptop computer
Programming cable
Banners and other decorations for your team's pit table
Review the descriptions and criteria for the awards being presented during the tournament.
Prep for your interviews with the judges and read the Judges' Guide. Check the awards tab to see what awards will be given during the tournament.
Remember that safety comes first. Please refrain from bringing tools that pose a safety risk to your team or others nearby, as teams are closely situated in the venue pit area. Also, remember to avoid grinding or other actions that create sparks. If grinding is necessary, ask the tournament director for a safe location.
Ensure that you have the latest version of programming software and firmware for your V5 Brain.
Participation and Consent Form
A completed form for all participants must be uploaded to events.vex.com before the tournament. Team leaders will need to verify that all team members attending the event have completed the online consent form before the tournament. Online Consent Form

Judging Format
Judging Format Judging for this event will be in person. Teams will need to submit a physical engineering notebook upon check-in. We will not be able to print a notebook for any team, and we cannot accept electronic devices or URLs for downloading digital notebooks. Judging for this event will be in the table format. Teams will need to go to the judges' tables for their interviews. Our judge advisor will be stationed by the tables, and teams will need to check in with them before proceeding to a table. All interviews must be completed before 12 pm. There will be no interviews after 12 pm.
